Engaged? What to do Next in 5 Easy Steps.

Firstly, congratulations to you and your partner on getting engaged, we wish you all the best from Zest events.

Secondly, we know the stress that comes quite quickly following this great news! Luckily, here are 5 easy initial steps to get things off the ground. Enjoy!

  1. Tell Your Nearest and Dearest You Are Engaged

It’s hard when your caught up in the thrill of the news to avoid the classic social media post, but it’s vital you get the direct family in first. Schedule a few phone calls with parents, close friends and family before composing that oh-so-exciting post to ensure no hurt feelings. Once that’s out of the way the world you are now engaged!

  1. The Engagement Ring

Next, make sure you get the ring insured. It is a keepsake that you can show off for the rest of your life. The last thing any about-to-be-wed couple needs is having to spend half the wedding budget on a new engagement ring, so take some time and get your newest piece of jewellery covered.

  1. Divide and Conquer

This is the fun part, or not, depending on how you operate. Sit down with your significant other and hash out all the responsibilities. Who’s doing what? Who’s in charge of who?

Pssst … Here is an opportunity to get parents involved in your big day. Chances are your older relatives will have some great ideas or contacts in the way of organisation, so don’t be afraid to give them a call!

  1. Plan

“So, when’ the date?” Chances are you’ll hear this question a million times over from the day you get engaged, to the big day, so make sure you have some idea. Specific dates, unless this has been planned for a while, don’t usually work out, so just make sure you have something to work from.

You’ll also need to know roughly how many people you want on the day. Don’t stress over you second cousin, twice-removed and their plus one at this stage – just have a rough estimate.

Lastly, make sure you have a loose idea of a location. This doesn’t mean trying to get the whole family out to the Bahamas in a week. Just make sure you know if it’s going to be abroad, at home, or somewhere a little different.

  1. Relax and Enjoy Being Engaged

After getting engaged, and during the lead-up to the event, you will barely see your significant other. Take some time to enjoy this magical moment in your lives, and the wonderful commitment you are about to make with your special someone.

Friends are also going to want to celebrate hard. Take advantage of this opportunity to spend some quality time with you nearest and dearest. Even if it’s just browsing wedding magazines over a bottle of wine, your friends are going to be your right-hand man, so don’t neglect them!

Finally – you’re getting married! Enjoy every second of the big day, and the lead-up, it’s going to be fun, enjoyable and thrilling. Alternatively, if you aren’t a good fit for the buzz of organising, never fear – Zest events do this as a full-time job. Just give us a call and we can show you how to go from zero to 100 with your big day!
